The quiet peaceful mornings of September is something to wake-up to! The smell of wood smoke and fresh eggs, bacon and coffee. These are just but a few of the pleasures that await you on a fun-filled 10 day canoe trip in Algonquin Park’s interior.

Trip departure and return is via Access#3 Lake Magnetawan on Algonquin Park’s west side. Located 1.5 hours past Huntsville, Ontario.

(3 hrs 15min from Toronto).

From Pembroke the drive is nearly 3hrs 15min.

This is a trip out of the west side of Algonquin Park - Access#3 (Lake Magnetawan).

Meeting time is 10:00am EST on Friday September 13th, 2019 at the permit office located at the Kearney Community Centre in the town of Kearney, Ontario. You must meet Mark and the rest of the group at the permit office beforehand to secure your permit. Do not drive to the access point first!

The trip ends on Sunday September 22nd, 2019 at approx. 2:00pm EST at Access#3 (Lake Magnetawan).

Activities include:

Canoeing, portaging, camping, swimming, hiking, wildlife viewing, fishing and of course solitude.

Day one is the trip in to camp
(Departure is from Access#3 Lake Magnetawan - Approx. 11:30am EST), between two and three hours travel we’ll have us at camp by mid-afternoon. A quick, light lunch will be served to keep energy levels up and to keep our pace ahead of the bugs. Dinner will be served approximately 2 hours after arrival at camp.

Days 2 to 9 will have the group paddling and portaging through the interior of Algonquin Park. We
may not even see any people for days at a time.

By day 9 we will camp close to the access point (Usually within 2 hours travel). This will make day 10 a simple and relaxed exit as you wind down to the last paddle strokes of the trip. We want you to savour your experience and not feel rushed to leave!
What is included in the package:

Equipment (Use of): Lightweight canoe, paddles, pfd (Life jacket), marine safety kit, lightweight tent, sleeping bag & pad, headlamp, saws, canoe pack & food barrel (one pack and barrel per canoe). Drinking & eating utensils are also included. Fishing rod and tackle will be available upon request. (A fishing license is required).

Food: A total of 9 Dinners and 9 Breakfasts are included as well as light lunches and snacks on the trail during day-trips. Your meals are cooked by our guides over a campfire ensuring you get the full backcountry experience. One glass of wine is provided per person for each of the nine dinners.

Our meals consist of steaks, chicken and fish served with fresh vegetables and rice. Dehydrated meals will be served usually starting on day 3 or 4 of the trip. There’s dessert too!

Guided Fun: Our guides offer 20 years of experience in the interior of Algonquin Park. Among the activities You can participate in; Star gazing, wildlife observation, making bannock bread and fishing. Learn how to identify various species of tree & plant life. Discover the habitats of some of The Park’s wildlife and the roles they can play in Algonquin Park’s ecosystem. We’ll show you just how much fun being outdoors & unconnected from the outside world can be.

Permits: Your camping permit is included in the cost of your trip.

Additional Info: Once your trip is booked you will be emailed a PDF containing additional information on your upcoming trip - All that you may or may not need to bring with you for a fun and memorable trip!
What is NOT included in the package:

Hotel Accommodation: It is recommended that our international guests make their own arrangements if they need a hotel room the day before and/or day after the trip.

Fishing Permit: A fishing permit is not included.

For non-residents of Canada, a fishing license can be obtained beforehand online via the Ontario government web site. Click here to read the requirements of a fishing license and following the links provided to purchase a license online.

If you need assistance, we can purchase and obtain a fishing permit for you at extra cost. Please provide reasonable time before the trip for us to secure your permit.

Cellphone service: There is no cellphone service in the interior of Algonquin Park. Connection might be possible, briefly, near access lakes. Once deeper inside The Park though, we will be utterly alone. Hope you can handle the disconnection withdrawals!
