June 25 - Day 2
A lazy day, friends arrive

It was a pretty good morning on Cedar Lake, the weather mostly sunny with a haze in the atmosphere. We did nothing this day, just relaxing around camp, eating, drinking and getting some sun.. Total vacation time. We also stayed on our site for another reason, I had invited a few friends from the Algonquin Adventures forum to pop by for a visit and just before 3:00pm I spotted a red canoe coming our way.

A few minutes later 'Stainless' & Jeffrey McMurtrie landed. Stainless had never been to Cedar Lake before while Jeffrey had. I think both were impressed with the campsite, it was spacious in a cozy kind of way.

Paddling Cedar Lake

Here comes Jeffrey & 'Stainless'

The duo had come from a few a days camping and portaging their way through the Gilmour Lake loop. Starting off at Brent Road they portaged down to Tecumseh Lake then over to Gilmour Lake. After which they paddled through Brant Lake and Gilmour creek then portaged the 2190m trail (Jeffrey reported seeing a black bear on the trail) back to Cedar Lake and then onto our campsite further down the lake. So for Jeffrey and Stainless it was two trips in one.

Jeffrey & Stainless arrive at our beachside vacation spot

The rest of the day was spent cutting wood for the campfire and relaxing on the beach. Later, we had a nice sunset with clear skies with Stainless treating us to another one of his astronomy classes, which are always lots of fun.

I had a new camp chair that I bought a Canadian Tire, it was one of those Roots collection chairs. I noticed they were named after Algonquin Park places like: "Mizzy", "Cedar" and "Lookout". Funny thing is my chair had a mesh seat, not the brightest of designs. I suppose it was for ventilation so one's behind wouldn't get sweaty, that was an interesting idea however, it also permitted mosquito access to my behind… Lousy chair!
